Matthew McConaughey has reportedly signed on to star in Gus Van Sant's upcoming film Sea of Trees.
The Dallas Buyers Club actor will appear alongside Ken Watanabe in the drama, according to Variety.
The script, by Chris Sparling, is about an American man (McConaughey) and a Japanese man (Watanabe) who meet in Japan's infamous 'Suicide Forest', where people go to commit suicide. But instead of killing themselves, the pair embark on a reflective journey through the forest.
Sea of Trees would be the next big role for McConaughey following his Oscar-nominated turn in Dallas Buyers Club. The actor has already he won the Critics' Choice Movie Award for playing Ron Woodroof in Jean-Marc Vallée's biographical drama.
The actor can currently be seen in The Wolf of Wall Street and HBO’s True Detective.
