Helen Mirren has been named as Harvard University’s 2014 Hasty Pudding Woman of the Year.
The actress was honored by the college’s Theatrical Society for her numerous contributions to the arts.
The ceremony began with a parade through the streets of Cambridge, Massachusetts with Mirren sitting in a convertible surrounded by Hasty Pudding members which was followed by an awards presentation.
Speaking at the event Mirren said: "I was made a Dame of the British Empire, I had to go to Buckingham Palace and I was honoured by, actually not her Royal Highness, but by Prince Charles, but that didn't come anywhere close to this."
Laughing while she accepted the award, she added: "This is the greatest honour, so thank you very, very much."
Previous recipients of the award include Julia Roberts, Drew Barrymore, Sandra Bullock, Halle Berry and Claire Danes.
