Stanley Tucci has been cast in the new Sky Atlantic drama Fortitude.
The American actor joins Christopher Eccleston, Michael Gambon and The Killing star Sofie Gråbøl in the series, which will consist of 12 hour-long episodes.
Northern Irish actor Richard Dormer, Jessica Raine, Johnny Harries, Luke Treadaway and Nicholas Pinnock will also star in the show.
Sky Atlantic's Director commented: "Our audience loves great, world-class story-telling and so Fortitude is a perfect fit for Sky Atlantic.
"We're thrilled to welcome Stanley Tucci - in his first British television role – and the rest of this amazing group of actors to the channel."
Fortitude centres on a mysterious death in the Arctic Circle and will be filmed in Iceland and the UK.
The town, which is surrounded by the beauty of the Arctic landscape, is one of the safest places on earth until a brutal murder destroys the tranquillity.
Game of Thrones star Dormer will play the local chief of police, Sheriff Dan Anderssen, while Tucci will play his new partner and newcomer to the town DCI Morton,
Gråbøl will play the town's conflicted governor, while Gambon will play a wildlife photographer with just weeks to live.
Fortitude will air on Sky Atlantic in late 2014.
