EastEnders actor Nitin Ganatra has said his character Masood will be seen "spiralling out of control" in the coming months.
Digital Spy reports that in an interview on ITV's Daybreak, the actor, who pitched the new storyline to the makers of the show, said: "The problem I was having was that I was getting a bit bored with playing that kind of 'nice guy' character."
Ganatra continued: "We will see more and more and more. We've shot everything, a lot of stuff, and we do see somebody spiralling out of control. It's a great acting challenge.
"A long time ago it was my suggestion. When Dominic (Treadwell-Collins, executive producer) came on board, I re-pitched it to him and he took elements of that story."
Ganatra added: "It's the basis of somebody being in a 28-year marriage who's now divorced. You kind of go, 'Nobody needs him any more'. That's got to affect you somehow, let's explore it, so we did."
