2014 has started with a bang for Swords band Kodaline following an appearance on the Jonathan Ross Show on Saturday night ahead of their Eurosonic Music Festival Award this week.
2fm's Dan Hegarty will be reporting live at the festival and at the EBBA's (European Boarder Breaker Awards) on Wednesday night, January 15.
Speaking to RTÉ TEN today, Hegarty said: "It must be a great feeling for any band or artist to start off the year with being given an award!
"Kodaline started 2013 with the Eurosonic festival, and now they're back in the city of Groningen for the EBBA ceremony to celebrate what they achieved in the months that followed."
He added: "It's a cliché to say it, but the city of Groningen really does come alive each year for the duration of the EBBA ceremony, and the Eurosonic festival.
"There are always acts that go on to do something really big each year, so it's intriguing to know who these will be this year."
Listen to Dan's live report from Eurosonic on The Dave Fanning Show on Wednesday night from 8pm and regular updates on 2fm's The Alternative Monday to Thursday from 10pm to 1am on 2fm and from 10am to 1pm on 2xm.
