New judges help win ratings war on The Voice UK

New judges Kylie Minogue and Ricky Wilson of Kaiser Chiefs helped the first episode of the new season of The Voice UK bounce back with an extra two million viewers to top Britain's Saturday night ratings battle.

An average audience of 8.4 million people watched BBC's version of the musical chairs show and it sank ITV’s celebrity diving show Splash! which paddled along on an audience of 3.7 million, according to overnight ratings.

Minogue and Wilson were drafted in after pop shouter Jessie J and Danny O’Donoghue of The Script stepped down from the show. Sir Tom Jones and will.i.am continue on the panel of coaches.
