John Goodman has joined the cast of Rupert Wyatt's The Gambler remake.
The Inside Llewyn Davis star will appear alongside Mark Wahlberg, Jessica Lange and Brie Larson in the Paramount remake of the 1974 drama, according to The Wrap.
The original version of the film was directed by Karel Reisz and starred James Caan as a literature professor whose gambling addiction leads to trouble with his girlfriend, mother and some unsavoury gangsters.
In the remake, Wahlberg takes on the lead role, with Lange playing his mother and Goodman starring as a loan shark, to whom Wahlberg finds himself indebted.
Screenwriter James Toback based the original film on his own life, while Oscar winner William Monahan (The Departed) has written this new version of the crime drama.
The Gambler is scheduled to be released in 2015.
