A 16-year-old Elvis impersonator whose performance of Blue Christmas has over eight million views on You Tube yesterday performed at Graceland to mark the late singer’s 79th birthday.

David Thibault from Quebec has wowed audiences with his vocal impersonation of Presley. Thibault sang Happy Birthday to the King and participated in the cake-cutting at the event.

Other guests at the Graceland party included former DJ Wink Martindale who recalled July 8, 1954 (almost 60 years ago) when Presley's debut single, That's All Right, was given a spin for the first time on radio.

Martindale was a jock at WHBQ in Memphis, who happened to be in studio when producer Sam Phillips brought in an acetate copy of That's All Right, which Presley had just cut the song at Phillips' Sun Records.

“[Hearing That's All Right for the first time] was almost like an out-of-body experience, “ Martindale recalls. "That was the beginning of Presley-mania." DJ Dewey Phillips duly played the song on his radio show Red, Hot and Blue, and the legend was born.
