Star Trek and Avatar star Zoe Saldana has been cast as the lead in NBC’s adaptation of the horror classic Rosemary’s Baby.
The 35-year-old will play the eponymous role, a part made famous by Mia Farrow in Roman Polanski’s 1968 film, in the upcoming miniseries based on Ira Levin’s spooky novel.
This latest version of the tale moves the action to Paris, where young mother-to-be Rosemary and her husband move into an apartment that has a dark history.
As time passes, Rosemary gradually becomes convinced that her husband and neighbours have evil plans for her unborn child.
Saldana will also co-executive-produce the four-hour project. Agnieszka Holland (Treme) will direct, with a script by Scott Abbott (Introducing Dorothy Dandridge) and James Wong (American Horror Story).
