Long Walk to Freedom star Idris Elba has revealed that he feels he cannot settle down following the death of his father last September.

Speaking to the Metro newspaper he said, ''[I'm] in a no man's land. I'm in-between places. I can't really settle down yet.''

The 41-year-old star father passed away in September following a battle with lung cancer.

Elba, who plays the late Nelson Mandela in Long Walk To Freedom, told the newspaper that his father was a long time admirer of Mandela.

He explained, "My dad was a shop steward at Ford, he was a real union guy: always fighting for the workers, and to anyone like that Mandela was a hero. Any time the BBC World Service was in our house we'd have to be quiet if he was talking about Mandela.''

Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom is out in theatres today, January 3, 2014.
