Ripper Street - Not going quietly

The Dublin-shot Victorian crime drama Ripper Street has topped a Radio Times poll to find the Best TV Show of 2013, just weeks after the BBC announced that it intended to cancel the series.

Over 7,500 radiotimes.com readers voted in the poll, with Ripper Street taking over 35% of the vote and seeing off the likes of Peaky Blinders, Doctor Who, Broadchurch and Breaking Bad.

There are hopes that Ripper Street might now survive the axe, with the show's producers, Tiger Aspect, reported to be in talks with video on demand providers about premiering a third series online before it is shown by the BBC.
