EastEnders' Wallace taking to East End stage

Wallace - "Great to stretch your muscles as an actress"

EastEnders' Jessie Wallace is to star opposite Gary Kemp in a new production of Frank Norman and Lionel Bart's Fings Ain't Wot They Used T'Be on the London stage.

The play was premiered at the Theatre Royal Stratford East in 1959 and its return to the venue next May will mark the centenary of Bart's birth.

The Evening Standard reports that Wallace said it was "great to stretch your muscles as an actress" and will juggle rehearsals and performances with filming on the BBC soap.

"It's a celebration of British theatre, written by great British writers and it's being done in the place where it was first presented," she said.
