Swedish-Irish singer Kevin Walker has been crowned the winner of Sweden's Idol.

The professional footballer, and son of a Carlow man, opened the show with a powerful version of U2’s Where The Streets Have No Name, following up with a rendition of John Mayer’s Say.

Walker and rival contestant Elin Bergstrand each sang their version of Belong, a song written specifically for the competition, before joining Robbie Williams and his swing band on-stage for the grand finale.

At the end of the show 24-year-old Kevin was announced as the winner following a public vote and closed the show by singing Belong.
