Gleeson sets out on a national tour this January

Highly-accomplished fiddle player and Hollywood actor Brendan Gleeson will join a group of musicians early next year to perform gigs in towns across Ireland as part of Music Network’s forthcoming event line-up.

Funded by the Arts Council and presented in association with RTÉ lyric fm, the Music Network events aim to bring Irish audiences the chance to experience the best of live music at affordable prices.

Gleeson will perform alongside accordion and banjo player Dirk Powell and uilleann pipers Michael McGoldrick and guitarist Francis Gaffney, from January 7 to 17 for shows in Dublin, Galway, Cork and Kildare.

Gleeson met Powell on the set of the Oscar-winning movie Cold Mountain in 2003 and formed a friendship with the multi-instrumentalist.

Gleeson is currently filming In The Heart of The Sea with Cork man Cillian Murphy. Directed by Ron Howard, the story is based on Nathaniel Philbrick's book about the real-life tale of the survivors of the Nantucket whaling ship, the Essex.

Tickets for Gleeson’s concerts are available from individual venues around the country and can be purchased by calling Music Network on (01) 475 0224 or booking online at www.musicnetwork.ie
