Irish games and video chain store Xtra-vision have apologized to customers and withdrawn their controversial conditions relating to the collection of pre-orders of XBoxOne consoles at their stores.
Xtra-vision had angered customers with their stipulation that pre-orders would only be honoured if an additional game was bought.
In a statement, the company says: "Xtra-vision can confirm that from today (Tuesday, 26th November) onwards, any person who collects their pre-ordered XBoxOne console at any Xtra-vision store will not have to purchase an additional game in order to receive their console.
"Customers who have already collected their XBoxOne console and purchased an additional game can return the unopened game to the Xtra-vision branch where the purchase was made between November 22nd and November 26th, and the cost of the game will be refunded on presentation of proof of purchase.
"Xtra-vision regret any upset or inconvenience that may have been caused to customers.
"We can confirm that customers who have pre-ordered PlayStation 4 consoles will not have to purchase an additional game in order to receive their console."
