Sam Callahan became the latest hopeful to be eliminated from The X Factor last night.
Callahan failed to impress in the sign-off against Luke Friend and the result means that judge Louis Walsh has lost his first contestant.
He sung Iris by the Goo Goo Dolls while Friend performed U2’s I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For.
Walsh did not vote last night as he did not want to choose between his two contestants. All three of the other judges said they wanted to send Callahan home with Nicole Scherzinger saying she was frustrated by him as he had left it too late to give a good vocal performance.
The 19-year-old told presenter Dermot O’Leary "I've had the most amazing time and I have absolutely no regrets. As far as I'm concerned this is just the beginning of a massive, massive adventure. Thank you guys for being a part of it."
Walsh said: "He's a fantastic role model. He deserves to be successful whatever he does."
Last night there were live performances by Gary Barlow and Miley Cyrus.
