Prodigal EastEnders’ star Natalie Cassidy has admitted that she is keen to be known for her acting again.
The 30-year-old recently confirmed that she wants to relaunch her acting career and is making a full-time comeback as Walford's Sonia Fowler in the New Year.
In more recent times she’s been associated with reality-type shows such as Strictly Come Dancing and Celebrity Big Brother, and has become something of a caricature figure in the British media.
She explained: "I think a lot of people have forgotten I am actually an actress. So much I have done in the last seven years has been about my personal life, rather than acting.
"I am so grateful to be able to return to EastEnders and get back to something I love. I didn't want to be arrogant and assume that I was going to be given the part back."
While little has been revealed about Sonia's future in Walford, show bosses claim she will be involved in what’s been described as a "gripping" and "dramatic" storyline for the women in the Butcher household.
