He claimed “I don’t want to live forever/When I go I want to go doing what I do best” on his band's biggest hit Ace of Spades but it seems Lemmy may need a little help - he's had a pacemaker fitted after years of hard living.

According to his bandmate Phil Campbell, 67-year-old Lemmy was diagnosed with an irregular heartbeat after decades on the road with Motörhead.

Doctors told Lemmy to get the pacemaker if he wanted to tour again. Campbell added that a planned tour postponed because of Lemmy’s illness - he also suffers from diabetes - would go ahead next year.

Speaking to WalesOnline, he said: “His ticker’s fine now and he’s made sufficient changes to his lifestyle and diet in order to combat the diabetes. He’s like the John Wayne of rock, always soldiering on.”
