Geri Halliwelll: here new song's underperforming Down Under

Geri Halliwelll has admitted that the abject failure of her new single in Australia has left her feeling ‘gutted’.

Despite the former Spice Girl being on prime time TV show Australia's Got Talent her new single Half of Me sold less than 400 copies.

To add insult to injury the embarrassed mother-of-one was meant to perform the song live tomorrow night on the show.

Writing on her blog, the 41-year-old revealed that when she heard the news of her dismal failure she "laughed nervously".

She wrote: "I saw online around 11pm that my new single (just released in Australia) had come in at number #94… I laughed nervously, god that’s really bad! (Deep down I was gutted)."

In a line later deleted from the posting, she added: "Prior to release I felt a bit nervous – my head was not back in the game, I’d hardly promoted it as I would have done in the past."

Halliwell conceded that the song, with lyrics such as ‘I gave you the finger, and you took me to dinner’, "just hasn't connected" with her audience.

She also wrote: "What I do know is this… I need to look back… Remember who I am – where I’ve come from and dust myself off…", Geri writes "Maybe I need learn how lose well in order to be a good winner?”
