The new Star Wars film under the direction of J.J. Abrams which was expected to be released in the summer of 2015 has now been moved back to a December 2015 date.
Lucasfilm and Disney announced yesterday that the film will open in the US on December 18th, 2015.
Walt Disney Studios chairman Alan Horn said “We’re very excited to share the official 2015 release date for Star Wars: Episode VII, where it will not only anchor the popular holiday filmgoing season but also ensure our extraordinary filmmaking team has the time needed to deliver a sensational picture.”
Lawrence Kasdan who co-wrote The Empire Strikes Back is set to rework the Michael Arndt script with Abrams and the film is due to start production in Pinewood Studios in England next spring.
There has not yet been any confirmation about the cast.
