Northern Irish rock heroes Stiff Little Fingers have announced a show in Dublin's Academy on March 13 2014.

The incendiary Belfast fourpiece lead by Jake Burns had hits with Alternative Ulster and Suspect Device and were the leading lights of the north's punk scene.

In 1979 they became the first band ever to hit the UK top 20 album chart on an independent label with their debut Inflammable Material.

They split in 1983 but Burns and Ali McMordie reformed the band for gigs in 1987 and they have often been cited as a major influence on Sugar, Rancid, and Therapy? as well as being the subject of the best joke in John Cusack movie High Fidelity.

The current SLF line-up features Jake Burns on lead vocals and guitar and Ali McMordie on bass and Ian McCallum on guitar and Steve Grantley on drums.

The band are working on a new album, the first since 2003's Guitar and Drum and launched a campaign on PledgeMusic.com to fund the recording.

Tickets for the Academy gig are priced €25 including booking fee and go on sale this Friday, November 8 at 9am from Ticketmaster and all usual Ticketmaster outlets.
