From featuring on Father Ted to becoming the BBC’s top chat show host – Graham Norton has been yet another great Irish entertainment export.

And now the Corkman has been honoured by his home town of Bandon, where he still has a residence despite spending most of his time working in London.

In between interviewing stars such as Paul McCartney and Harrison Ford, the broadcaster and entertainer returned to Bandon to officially open a walkway which has been named after him.

The chat-show host described the event as “a landmark” in his life which made him realise how far he had come.

The Graham Norton Show continues on Fridays on BBC One and on Saturdays on TV3.
