Speculation continues over who will play the role of Christian Grey in Fifty Shades of Grey after Charlie Hunnam dropped out of the project and Cillian Murphy's name is on the list.

Paddy Power is spearheading White Collar and Magic Mike star Matt Bomer, 36, as their 2/1 favourite according to The Mirror and Murphy is the leading Irish man to play the billionaire at 6/1.

The 37-year-old Batman star could land the role opposite Dakota Johnson who will play Anastasia Steele.

However Murphy isn't the only Irish actor on the list as Jonathan Rhys Meyers is at 25/1 and Colin Farrell is also there with 33/1.

Other hotly tipped actors include Alex Pettyfer at 3/1, Lost actor Ian Somerhalder at 4/1 with Ryan Gosling and Superman's Henry Cavill both at 5/1.

A Paddy Power spokesman said: “Bomer is very much the fans’ choice which puts him in pole position but, like the novel, there could be a few more twists and turns in store.”
