Blur frontman Damon Albarn makes his radio presenting debut this weekend when he sits in for Dermot O’Leary on BBC Radio 2. Damon guests will include Idris Elba and Ken Dodd.
Damon is the latest in a long line of pop stars who have taken to the radio mic. Jarvis Cocker of Pulp, Guy Garvey of Elbow, Tom Dunne of Something Happens and Dave Couse of A House have also taken to the airways over the years to host radio shows.
BBC Radio 2 say Albarn will be playing music from all over the world, and he will be joined by Luther actor Idris Elba who also stars in the new Nelson Mandela.
According to industry news site Radio Today, his other guests including Paul Simonon of The Clash, Ken Dodd and a Pentecostal choir.
Albarn has broadcast before - he played Bull in Joe Orton’s Up Against It, a Radio 4 play about The Beatles aired in 1998.
