It's been confirmed that the Doctor Who 50th anniversary special will be simultaneously broadcast around the globe.

The Day of the Doctor will star retiring Matt Smith and his predecessor David Tennant, and is to be simulcast on November 23.

This feature-length episode will be shown in at least 75 countries around the world at the same time, including Brazil, Canada, USA, Australia and Mexico.

Meanwhile, as well as being shown on BBC One, the 75-minute episode is to be screened in 3D in cinemas in the show's native UK.

Speaking about the simulcast, Who showrunner Steven Moffat said: "The Doctor has always been a time traveller - now he's travelling time zones. On the 23rd of November, it won't be the bad guys conquering the Earth - everywhere it will be The Day of the Doctor!"
