Brendan Gleeson and Cillian Murphy have begun filming Heart of the Sea, the new action-adventure from director Ron Howard which also stars Chris Hemsworth, Benjamin Walker, Ben Whishaw and Tom Holland.

The film is based on Nathaniel Philbrick's best-selling book In The Heart of the Sea, which tells the true story of the Essex, a whaling ship which was attacked by a whale and became the inspiration for Herman Melville's Moby Dick.

Studio Warner Bros says: "Heart of the Sea reveals the encounter's harrowing aftermath, as the ship's surviving crew is pushed to their limits and forced to do the unthinkable to stay alive."

Filming is currently taking place in the UK and Heart of the Sea will also shoot in the Canary Islands.
