Murder on the Dance Floor singer Sophie Ellis-Bextor has injured her toe while practising her first Strictly Come Dancing routine at home.

The 34-year-old singer originally thought that she broke her toe, but it turned out that it was just bruised.

Ellis Bextor tweeted about the incident, saying: "I thought I'd broken a bone in my foot demonstrating one of my dance moves to Sonny last night. I collided with Ray's cot.

"It's not broken, just bruised. I am an idiot though."

The mum-of-three added that her 4-year-old son Kit had critiqued her performance after watching footage of her rehearsing.

She added: "Just showed Kit a little video of my dance in progress and he asked 'why were you really struggling with that one?'. Kit is 4."

Strictly Come Dancing airs on September 27 at 9pm on BBC One.
