The doctor of TV legend Valerie Harper has announced that her terminal cancer is close to remission.
Back in March, the 74-year-old actress who starred in The Mary Tyler Moore Show and Rhoda was given only a few months to live after being diagnosed with terminal cancer.
"I'd say that we're getting pretty close to a remission. It defies the odds," neuro-oncologist Jeremy Rudnick told NBC's breakfast show Today after her latest scan has revealed a huge improvement in her condition.
Harper has leptomeningeal carcinomatosis, a form of cancer that attacks the membranes around the brain.
Her husband Tony Cacciotti said: "Going from having three months to live or less, we're into our sixth month. And now there's even hope beyond that. This is overwhelming."
Valerie Harper has also been rumoured to be a participant in the upcoming season of US show Dancing with the Stars, the American version of The BBC's Strictly Come Dancing.
