It is reported that an EastEnders character will be left for dead in scenes to air next month.

Warning: spoiler alert!

Daily Star Sunday reports that David Wicks (Michael French) will arrive at the door of former lover Carol Jackson (Lindsey Coulson) with his new girlfriend, Naomi (Lisa Maxwell) in tow.

He offers no explanation for his return to Walford but demands to see daughter Bianca (Patsy Palmer), who is away.

However, a couple of days later it becomes clear that David is in trouble again when he is beaten up and left for dead.

David manages to make it to Carol's home and she takes him in – much to the annoyance of boyfriend Masood Ahmed (Nitin Ganatra).

A source told the paper: "David is one man in Carol's life she will always have a soft spot for. He's her first love and the father of her first-born Bianca. We saw the chemistry they had when David returned to see his mum. But all he's ever done is let her down."
