Journalist Conor Pope has become the latest contestant to be eliminated from Celebrity MasterChef Ireland on RTÉ One.
On Sunday night's show, Pope was working on desserts as the contestants provided a two-course dinner service for invited guests.
However, his Prosecco and Crème de Cassis-Poached Pears with Lavender and Blackberries Crème Anglaise and Shortbread did not impress judge Dylan McGrath.
Maia Dunphy, David Gillick, Yvonne Keating and Aengus Mac Grianna now go forward to the semi-final of the competition this Sunday night on RTÉ One at 9:30pm.
Before the elimination, judge McGrath told Pope: "I was proud to see that you were producing something today that was looking relatively like itself, plate after plate.
"However, when I turned around and saw all the dry lavender on top I was getting very nervous. It didn't belong; it was overpowering. It showed a lack of being able to cook.
"There's two sides to being able to cook: one is technical and one is in your brain, when you can imagine what the food tastes like and you know when enough is enough.
"The amount of lavender that was used was so excessive. In terms of flavour, you can't taste anything else other than bath salts!"
After hanging up his apron, Pope said: "I was pretty sure my time was up today and whilst I think I did ok to get the food out onto the tables in the restaurant, I knew it wasn't particularly stunning."
He continued: "I've actually learned a lot more than I thought from the whole MasterChef experience. I've learned that a lot of the mysteries of cooking are much more easy to unravel than many people might anticipate.
"It's hard not to find some comic value in Dylan McGrath telling you, 'You put too much lavender in your poached pears'! I am kind of sad to be leaving, but to be perfectly honest I'm also looking forward to beans on toast!"
