Sacha Baron Cohen has reportedly pulled out of a new Freddie Mercury biopic after creative differences with the surviving members of Queen.
The 41-year-old actor was set to play the late Queen frontman in an upcoming film, and had even taken singing lessons to help him prepare for the role.
However movie insiders have revealed to Deadline.com that Cohen has quit the project after a disagreement about his portrayal of Freddie Mercury with the remaining Queen band members.
The source claims Cohen was angling for a "gritty R-rated tell-all" biopic, where as Queen's Brian May and Roger Taylor wanted it to focus more on the band.
The film was originally slated to be released in 2012 but has faced a whole host of delays. May assured fans last year that the movie "should be ready" to hit screens in 2014 – but that was when Baron Cohen was still on board with the project.
