Dublin fourpiece Kodaline wish they had written The Beatles hit Hey Jude or Romeo and Juliet by Dire Straits.

The Love Like This hitmakers admitted that they are ''massive fans'' of the classic pop group and vocalist Steve Garrigan said he wished he had written their classic 1968 single.

Speaking to Music Unlimited, the music streaming service from Sony Entertainment Network, guitarist Mark Prendergast, explained that the band are pleased to say they are friends with singer John Lennon's son, Julian.

He said: ''We played a show in New York and he came and took photos and hung out and had a few beers with us. We email now and again. Because we are massive Beatles fans, to be friends with him is cool.''

When asked what their favourite song from their debut album In A Perfect World is, vocalist Mark revealed that it would have to be It All Comes Down To You.

He added: ''It is one of our oldest songs and we got this big choir section at the end. We were down in the country in Ireland and we invited about 20 of our friends just to come down to the studio. We had a few beers and a bit of a party and then we just all got round the microphone and sang it. It's just our mates singing it really but we are really happy with the sound.''
