Helen Mirren has been confirmed to star in The Hundred-Foot Journey. The actress will take on the role of a French chef in the film adaptation of Richard C Morais' book.
It had been previously rumoured in June that The Queen star would take on the role in director Lasse Hallström's movie, which centres on the rivalry between a three-star Michelin restaurant and a nearby Indian eatery.
Madame Mallory (Mirren) becomes a mentor to the young owner of the Indian restaurant, which is 100 feet away from her establishment.
Steven Spielberg, Oprah Winfrey and Juliet Blake will produce the project, which is scheduled to begin shooting in France this autumn.
Manish Dayal (90210, Switched at Birth) has also been cast in the culinary drama.
