Countdown star Carol Vorderman's planned new ITV show Revolution has been axed by ITV.

The 52-year-old presenter had been lined up to take a primetime slot on Saturday evenings with her new general knowledge game show, which gave contestants the chance to win £3m.

Speaking to The Sun newspaper, an insider said: "Revolution was always a non-broadcast pilot and it was one we decided not to go ahead with.

"On the strength of the pilot we didn't feel like it was ready to go on to a series."

The quiz show, which had TV's largest ever cash prize, was reportedly not "up to scratch".
