Republic of Telly’s resident trouble-maker Jennifer Maguire will be among music fans taking part in this year’s Tour De Picnic, Electric Picnic’s annual two-wheeled charity fundraiser.

Maguire, who also took part in the event last year, will be using pedal power on the 80km ride from Dublin to Stradbally in Laois for the festival which takes place this August 30th to September 1st. Acts include Bjork, Robert Plant and Arctic Monkeys hitting the stage.

Organisers are once again inviting people to take part - with the massive incentive of a free weekend camping pass to the Picnic.

If the idea of an 80km cycle is a bit daunting, Tour De Picnic has added a 10km charity run this year. Runners will be bused from the Tour De Picnic starting point in Tallaght Stadium to Athy, and then run to the gates of Stradbally, escorted by a fleet of Harley Davidsons.

Mia Keaveney, the 12-year-old founder of Thank You Crumlin, Love Mia which is one of this year’s beneficiaries, will be taking part in year’s Tour De Picnic after receiving her new prosthetic leg shortly after Electric Picnic 2012. Give2go also donated a new bike to Mia on which she will use for her first outing alongside the 10km runners in the Tour De Picnic.

Last year over 700 people took part in bike ride and funds raised helped revamp the multi-sensory garden at LauraLynn Children’s Hospice. The beneficiaries of this year’s Tour de Picnic will be Thank You Crumlin, Love Mia and Laura Lynn House, Ireland's Children’s Hospice.

For both the 80km cycle and the 10km run, Tour De Picnic have set a minimum fund-raising requirement of €380 (including a €50 deposit). For those of you who have already purchased their Electric Picnic ticket, the reduced fundraising amount is €230.

Those taking part in the 10km run will receive a full weekend camping pass to the Electric Picnic festival, transport to the starting point in Athy, and a bus ticket home

For Tour De Picnic 80km Cycle participants will get a full weekend camping pass to the Electric Picnic festival, a full Tour De Picnic cycling kit, bus ticket home, and bike transfer back to Dublin.
