Cameron Diaz's hit comedy Bad Teacher is officially in development.
Filmmaker Jake Kasdan, who helmed the 2011 outing, will return to direct the follow-up, although it's not yet known if Diaz will be reprising her role as the school teacher for the second instalment.
A release from Sony studios said the project is "being developed for Cameron Diaz to star in the film but no deal is yet set with the actress."
The sequel will be penned by up-and-coming screenwriter Justin Malen.
Meanwhile, a Bad Teacher TV sitcom is filming now and will premiere on US network CBS this autumn.
