Nathan Fillion has admitted that he tried to walk out on Joss Whedon's Much Ado About Nothing.

The Castle actor plays Dogberry in Whedon's Shakespeare adaptation, with a cast that also includes Amy Acker, Alexis Denisof, Clark Gregg and Reed Diamond.

Fillion - who made his name starring in Whedon's TV cult classic, Firefly - revealed to Parade that he had serious doubts about starring in his good friend's latest movie.

"I tried to chicken out," he recalled. "Reading Shakespeare is one thing; performing it is another. Joss Whedon talked me down, and I'm so glad he did."
