Joss Whedon wants to follow up his adaptation of Much Ado About Nothing, with an adaptation of Hamlet.
Speaking to Digital Spy, he said that he wanted to bring his version of the Shakespearean tragedy to the screen for years but was "too close" to the role.
He said: "[Casting] is one of the problems.
"I think about it for so long that by the time I get around to doing it, the guy I want for Hamlet is playing Lear. So I don't have anyone in mind.
"It's too close to me, that role, so it's very tough."
Much Ado About Nothing will be released this Friday, June 14 and Whedon is currently working on the script for Avengers 2.
