It has been confirmed that both Mariah Carey and rapper Nicki Minaj are leaving the American Idol judging panel.
Carey made the news official yesterday afternoon via Twitter with her PR firm announcing "W/ global success of "#Beautiful" (#1 in 30+ countries so far) @MariahCarey confirms world tour & says goodbye 2 Idol." The singer then retweeted the message.
Carey has served as a judge for just one season and her departure follows the news that the only original panellist Randy Jackson is also leaving the show.
A representative for the singer said her schedule is jam-packed for the foreseeable future touring with her new album. She is also set to appear in the film, The Butler.
Minaj also used Twitter to announce her intentions regarding the show saying "Thank you American Idol for a life changing experience! Wouldn't trade it for the world! Time to focus on the Music!!! Mmmuuuaahhh!!!"
The news leaves Keith Urban as the only member of the panel yet to announce his intentions regarding the Fox show.
The show struggled in the ratings during its most recent run.
