Niall Horan talks to Nicky Byrne ahead of the release of 1D3D

Nicky Byrne is guest presenting this morning’s Tubridy Show on RTÉ 2fm with One Direction's Niall Horan being one of his guests. The former Westlife star recently sat down with the One Direction singer.

With One Direction preparing for a stadium tour having just announced UK, Ireland and the South America, Byrne said to Horan that he's probably going to be performing in places that he didn't even know existed.

Mullingar native, Horan replied: "Yeah, sure when the charity single went to No 1 in 62 countries, I didn't even know 62 countries existed! We're definitely going to be performing in places I've never heard of before."

However Byrne couldn't believe his ears when the 19-year-old said: "We went training with Real Madrid the other day that was unreal."

Byrne said: "No, you didn't, I'm not even going to believe you did that because whatever about breaking America, I'm very jealous of you training with Real Madrid!"

Horan will also speak to Byrne about the new One Direction movie, 1D3D, how much access the film crew had and playing Croke Park.

Byrne will present The Tubridy Show this morning from 9am to 11am on 2fm. Tune into the Tubridy Show on 2fm 9am to 11am weekdays on 2fm. Listen in on the RTÉ Radio Player www.rte.ie/radioplayer or via the RTÉ Radio App on your mobile phone/device.

The 34-year-old former Westlife singer is excited by stepping in for Tubridy: "I’m really looking forward to…jumping into Ryan’s chair for the first time. Obviously Westlife have had a wonderful relationship with 2fm over the years, stretching right back to the late 90s and Gerry Ryan – or ‘Uncle Gerry’ as we called him.

"I really didn’t have to be asked twice when 2fm approached me to fill in on Tubridy.

“It’s massive boots to fill as Ryan is one of our best broadcasters and I’m really looking forward to the challenge. It’s two hours that I’ll cherish and I’m willing to give it my best shot to keep listeners entertained.

“Also my mam will be very proud I’m taking over the ‘big one’ even if its just for one day!”

Byrne has kept busy since Westlife disbanded and before Christmas he appeared in Strictly Come Dancing.
