Michelle Keegan won Sexiest Female once again at the British Soap Awards

Coronation Street won a total of eight British Soap Awards including Best Soap of the year.

The domestic abuse storyline won the soap the Best Storyline award Alan Halsall won Best Actor for his portrayal of abuse victim Tyrone Dobbs.

Natalie Gumede won two awards for Best Villain and Best Dramatic Performance while, Patti Clare received the Best Comedy Performance award for her role as Mary Taylor.

Michelle Keegan was crowned with the Sexiest Female award once again, beating off competition from co-star Georgia May Foote, Hollyoaks's Jorgie Porter, Emmerdale's Natalie Anderson and EastEnders' Jacqueline Jossa.

Other big winners at the British Soap Awards 2013 included Hollyoaks, which took home five awards, including Best Actress for Claire Cooper and Sexiest Male for Danny Mac.

Emmerdale won two awards including Best Single Episode for last year's live episode in celebration of their 40th anniversary.

However EastEnders were only awarded one prize on the night; a Lifetime Achievenment Award for Adam Woodyatt who plays Ian Beale.
