It looks like pop's biggest battle of the queens is finally over - Elton John has apologised to Madonna for all those nasty things he's been saying about her.

He told Extra TV that he bumped into her Madgesty in a restaurant in France last year (as you do) and apologised for his less than flattering words.

"We were in a restaurant in France in the summertime. She came in, and I sent over a note. She was very gracious," Elt has said.

"I apologised profusely because what I said should never have appeared in public. She accepted our apology, and then we bought her dinner. That's over and done with."

Last August, John described Madge's money-spinning MDNA Tour as a "disaster" and said her career was "over", adding that it couldn't have happened to "a bigger ****".

But now John says that Madonna was glad to move on after his apology: "She was fantastic. She was just like, 'Okay, let's get a move on'."

The Ho! Ho! Ho! (Who'd Be A Turkey At Christmas) singer's civil partner David Furnish added: "We don't believe in putting negativity out in the world, both of us were embarrassed when all that stuff came out."

It was revealed this week that John and Furnish have asked Lady GaGa to be godmother to their youngest son Elijah.
