Dublin thriller writer Tana French is among the category winners of the Los Angeles Times Book Prize.
The American-born French, who has lived in Dublin since the 1990s and studied at Trinity College, won the Mystery/Thriller category for her book Broken Harbor.
It follows the investigation into the deaths of a father and his two children.
The Irish Independent reports that the Los Angeles Times award "guarantees huge sales in the US".
Previous winners include Stephen King, Stuart Neville, Michael Connelly, George P Pelecanos and Val McDermid.
