Irish films The Summit and Irish Folk Furniture, which were among the winners at the Sundance Film Festival in the US earlier this year, are to screen at the festival's UK event, Sundance London, in April.

Directed by Nick Ryan, The Summit tells the story of Irish climber Ger McDonnell, who was killed attempting to climb K2 along with his fellow mountaineers.

The documentary's editor, Ben Stark, won the Editing Award at the Sundance Film Festival in January.

Irish Folk Furniture, directed by Tony Donoghue and produced by Cathal Black, won the Short Film Jury Award: Animation at Sundance.

In the film "16 pieces of traditional folk furniture are repaired and returned home".

Both The Summit and Irish Folk Furniture were part-funded by RTÉ.

Sundance London runs from April 25 to 28 at London's O2 with more details available from: www.sundance-london.com.
