Tom Hiddleston is in line to play Paul Raymond, after the late King of Soho's son secured him for the role in the biopic.
A rival film by Michael Winterbottom with Steve Coogan in the lead role is also underway.
Howard Raymond told the Daily Mail: "You can't imagine how delighted I am by this - chuffed to bits,
"We've waited a long time to get the right person and in Tom we finally have. It's a difficult role, not because he is playing my father but because he is in every scene in the film."
Paul Raymond was a club owner and porn publisher who bought and developed large areas of London's Soho district.
Raymond is seeking legal options against Winterbottom's movie, including an attempt to trademark the King of Soho name, which is also the intended title of the latter film.
Hiddleston is in line to appear in the upcoming Only Lovers Left Alive, Black Wings Has My Angel and Thor 2.
The Raymond biopic is intended to start shooting next year.
