Jessica Chastain has revealed that she would be interested in appearing in a future Marvel Studios film, despite dropping out of Iron Man 3.

Chastain was to play a scientist in Shane Black’s sequel, but left the project due to scheduling conflicts.

The actress, known for her role in Help, told Total Film that she hopes there is another opportunity to work with Marvel Studios in the future.

"It's always a good problem to have because it means you have options. It's not really a problem, but it was just impossible, schedule-wise. So I was sad," she said.

"I met Shane Black earlier and I think he's going to make an amazing film. And of course I went to see Avengers Assemble earlier and I loved it. I hope to be in a Marvel film."

Robert Downey Jr will reprise his role as Tony Stark in Iron Man 3, alongside other returning cast members, Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle and Jon Favreau.

Guy Pearce, Rebecca Hall, Andy Lau, Ashley Hamilton, James Badge Dale and Sir Ben Kingsley are newcomers to the series.

Chastain, an Oscar nominee, will make her Broadway debut on October 7 in a revival of The Heiress.

Iron Man 3 arrives in cinemas on May 3, 2013.
