Actress and singer Bernie Nolan, who is currently being treated for breast cancer, turned up at last night’s TV Choice Awards.

The Daily Mail reports that Nolan impressed onlookers with her decision to reveal her bald head. The 49-year-old is in the middle of a tough course of chemotherapy.

She took the decision to shave her head as her hair began to fall out in clumps as a result of the treatment. She said "I've spent the past few weeks saying I'm happy with no hair, so I felt it was important to come here and show I meant it."

She continued "And you know what? After ten minutes no one notices about the hair."

Nolan was the leads singer of the pop group, The Nolans, with her sisters and also starred in 'The Bill' which recently ended its run on ITV.

Two of her sisters have also fought and recovered from the illness in the last decade.
