Actor Kiefer Sutherland has allegedly headbutted a fashion designer in New York following an incident with actress Brooke Shields, US reports claim.
The altercation allegedly took place at an after-party for the Met Costume Gala on Monday night, which was attended by a host of A-list stars including Madonna and Victoria Beckham.
According to showbusiness website TMZ.com, Sutherland confronted Jack McCollough, a designer for fashion label Proenza Schouler, after the alleged victim allegedly knocked Brooke Shields over.
Witnesses tell the site that Sutherland - who plays protagonist Jack Bauer in the award-winning series '24' - demanded that McCollough apologise to Shields, and that a fracas ensued.
McCollough allegedly pushed Sutherland, who is alleged to have responded by headbutting the designer. TMZ reports that the alleged attack resulted in lacerations on the man's nose.
Police are said to be investigating the issue.
Sutherland is currently on probation in Los Angeles following a drink-driving conviction in 2007 - his fourth arrest for driving under the influence. He spent six weeks in California's Glendale City jail for DUI and violating probation.
