Liquidator appointed to Tara TV

A liquidator has been appointed to Tara Television - the company in which RTÉ has a 20% stake and which mainly transmits RTÉ programmes in Britain.

The company has 18 employees and operates from rented facilities at the RTÉ complex in Donnybrook.

The High Court appointed an interim examiner to Tara earlier this month. Mr Justice Brian McCracken appointed the examiner after he was told that the company's liabilities exceeded its assets by over €22 million.
