On Albert Square this week Janine meets with Phil to finalise the sale of the Queen Vic only to discover he has had a better offer, Peter and Lola try to bring their families together and there is little in the way of festive cheer on the Square.
When David tells Janine that her secret is safe with him but it's not long before he uses the information to his advantage. With David blackmailing her, Janine comes up with a drastic plan of action. Using Christmas as an excuse to visit the Butcher household, Janine goes in search of the recording David has that would implicate her in Michael's murder but just how will this story pan out? It's Christmas after all so anything can happen.
When Janine goes to see Phil to try and finalise a deal to buy the pub from him and is shocked to hear she has been outbid and that he plans to sell to someone else. It's Christmas Day when the new landlord arrives making Danny Dyer a new fixture on Albert Square as Mick Carter. Janine isn't the only one shocked by the news however with Alfie taken aback by the new arrival in town just after he has had to say an emotional goodbye to his home and livelihood.
Peter and Lola are adamant to bring their families together this holiday season but Ian and Phil are having none of it. The pair want to tell their families about their relationship but are nervous about how they'll react, and when the news does break, Ian and Phil's reactions are exactly what you would expect. One big happy family they are not.
Elsewhere, Kat finds a new home for the Moones, Patrick tells Denise that he thinks Ian is going to propose to her and Jake and Lauren are spotted together outside the Vic.
